KFC killing the rainforest and all of its beautiful inhabitants

(This is a letter I received from Green Peace)

Taleb-

Rainforest destruction?  Not what you expected?  Unfortunately its true.  Our researchers have found that KFC's throw-away packaging contains fiber from Indonesia's rainforest.

Thats right.  KFC is destroying the habitat of the last remaining Sumatran tigers for potato wedges and 12 piece buckets of extra crispy chicken.  Its disgusting.

KFC gets paper for its packaging from a notoriously destructive company called Asia Pulp & Paper (APP).  And APP is driving rainforest destruction in Indonesia at an alarming rate to meet KFC's demands -- leaving endangered Sumatran tigers with nowhere to go.

(They act like they want to make a difference, don't be fooled www.asiapulppaper.com)

Don't let fast food packaging be the end of the Sumatran tiger and everything else that calls the Indonesian rainforest home.  Help us send 50,000 messages to KFC in the next 72 hours by taking action right NOW.

TELL KFC TO STOP USING RAINFOREST DESTRUCTION BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.

Green Peace activists are delivering the very same message at KFC's headquarters in Kentucky right now.  Its all part of the next phase in our campaign to protect the Sumatran tiger and save the Indonesian rainforest.

Together, we've already convinced some of the worlds largest companies- Nestle, Mattel, Kroger- to cut ties with APP.  NOT ITS TIME TO KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING AND DO THE SAME WITH KFC.

It wasn't that long ago that the Sumatran tiger thrived in Indonesia.  Today there are only a few hundred left in the wild.  What will this look like a week from now?  A month? A year?  The answer to that question is up to us.

Companies like Asia Pulp & Paper are showing no signs of letting up.  Even with all our success, at the current rate of destruction, the forecast for these tigers and the rainforest itself isn't looking good.

Its not too late, but KFC has to stop buying packaging from Asia Pulp & Paper.  It won't be easy and the company is going to do it if we generate enough public outcry.  Thats why its so important that you take action today.

Help us expose the truth behind KFC's real recipe and tell it to stop serving up fast food in forest destruction.  Send your email today.

For the forests,

Rolf Skar
Greenpeace USA Forest Campaign Director.

My Thoughts...

Like are you fucking kidding me.  You're telling me that they are destroying habitats just over some fuckin paper!!! The blame can now longer be pinned on KFC though, they may have been ignorant to the fact, however, with a conscious efforts to make people more aware of whats going on, its out responsibility to make a difference, and if you don't, you are just as ignorant.  Not one person can do it alone, and a corporation is not going to do it unless the people push them to do so.  Understand what this means, understand the butterfly effect.

If these species and habitat gets destroyed who knows what kind of impact it will have on the rest of nature, and even our own lives.  Seriously understand this is OUR future and we are in control of it.  Seriously people, from the bottom of my HEART, please just take two minutes to sign this petition and it WILL make a difference, PLEASE.  Together we can make a difference for a brighter tomorrow, but we can no longer be ignorant or else life as we know it will be over.  Here is the link where you can directly sign the petition electronically and help to make this dream a reality.
TAKE ACTION

Do you live near a dangerous chemical plant? You might know you do, or you might live in a city like ChicagoNew York, or Los Angeles and not even realize that you live near a facility that puts you at risk every day. You might also work at a hospital that could be overrun by the casualties from a chemical disaster, or work for the fire or police department that has to respond to such an event. Even if that isn’t the case, you likely live very near any of the major railroads that are carting lethal gases through your community every day.
On behalf of these communities, over 100 organizations representing workers, disproportionately impacted communities, healthcare professionals, and environmentalists have repeated their request to President Obama that he use his authority under the Clean Air Act to prevent chemical disasters. And it is not just these organizations and the communities they represent, the New York Times has asked for the EPA to take action, and so has the former Administrator of the EPA under President Bush, Governor Christine Todd Whitman, whose call followed the formal request of the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council.
Congressional Republicans have stymied efforts to correct what the New York Times calls a “clear and present danger,” but the Obama Administration has advocated strongly for a comprehensive policy that would focus on preventing a chemical disaster by using safer technologies, instead of just focusing on fenceline security. President Obama has been clearthat he will move his agenda forward with or without Congress and when it comes to the dangers from chemical plants, he has the tools to do just that.
According to chemical facility reports to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), more than 480 chemical facilities each put 100,000 or more people at risk of a poison gas disaster. President Obama knows about this risk and in his 2008 campaign plan “Change We Can Believe In” he pledged to “Secure our chemical plants by setting a clear set of federal regulations that all plants must follow, including improving barriers, containment, mitigation and safety training, and wherever possible, using safer technology, such as less toxic chemicals.”
Now is the time for the president and the EPA to act on this campaign pledge. This Congress has become captive of the chemical companies that want their profits to trump the safety and security of the public and has failed to pass any law that would focus on disaster prevention. President Obama needs to now take the reigns and fully implement the Clean Air Act protections that will make our communities safer.
DO SOMETHING, YOU CAN TAKE 3 MINUTES TO SIGN A PETITION TO HELP PROTECT A BRIGHTER FUTURE!

Its because of shit like this that everyone is still ignorant and naive.  How is it that fox news can sit there and tell the entire world that there is not police brutality here in America?  You see, all this does is it makes a bunch of already ignorant assholes, and makes then even bigger assholes.  News stations cannot be lying to us anymore.  We must put our foot down and demand the truth from our government.  The power is in the people.  Its going to take much more than a few people who care to turn things around, and with a zombie nation with proportions like ours, I don't know how its going to happen, especially because I see nobody who gives a fuck, or who cares to make an effort.  This is the real deal and no longer can we live in ignorance.  I AM TIRED OF BEING A VICTIM OF THE SYSTEM.  We need to come together, I'm so sick of all the pain, and hurt that I witness everyday in my life, it makes me feel like shit.  The only way that we can make a change though is to simply become more aware.  Spread the word.

Get Educated

AND IF YOU DONT KNOW,
NOW YOU KNOW N****.

But really though.  Do you understand what this means? This means that ANYONE considered to be threat to national security CAN and WILL be detained, and/or shipped to another country!  For example. me posting this, inevitably makes me a terrorist, speaking out against the country.  Whoops.  This is very serious and very real.  This is our future.  They've been programming us to fail, programing us to not give a shit so our rights can be stripped right from underneath us.  We need to put this to an end. Wake up.  This isn't like procrastinating to clean your room, this is the REAL DEAL.
REAL RECOGNIZE REAL.
RECOGNIZE ME.
Lets stand up and Make A DIFFERENCE.
We cannot make a change if we are not Aware.

HEMP! GIVE THE STONERS WHAT THEY WANT AND THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY NEED!

This is just in case you never heard, lol. Click on the Link!

BUT THE REAL STORY!!!

HEMP!!! ITS CHEAP, VERSATILE,

RENEWABLE, ECO FRIENDLY,

EVERYTHING WE NEED FOR STABILITY,

BUT YO FUCK IT! ITS ILLEGAL!!

The plastic in your laptop, your car, and anything else you’re currently looking at right now, could be made of hemp.  More not likely than so, but still possible.  Perhaps more common would be a t-shirt or some sort of “jewelry” you got at the Lilith Fair.  Did you know hemp could be a major player in the biofuel industry?  The fact is, hemp is an industrial powerhouse, but the potential for its greatness is diminished by its legal status across the globe.  While a few countries, such as China and Canada, allow cultivation for industrial purposes, the association of hemp with its fun-loving cousin, marijuana, has sullied chances for widespread production, processing, and distribution of raw hemp materials and products.  The hemp industry is good for veganism- and not just because it makes healthy vegan hemp foods.  Hemp production and processing for plastics, textiles, and fuel is better for the environment.  This means less animals, including humans, dying.

My thoughts on the whole thing......., I think that it is absolute bull shit.  The only reason that this not being utilized is because it threatens too many of the bigger corporations.  Why are we still using fossil fuels as energy sources when they are non renewable, and we have plenty of sources of renewable energy, that would be cheaper.  Why is it this way?  When is it going to be the time when we look past the old played out notation of weed and that it is terrible for you?  We all smoke it now, JESUS!  Im sure weed can be integrated into our entire system within a year much like many other things.  It used be you couldn't even come close to speak a cuss word on the radio and now they are damn near dropping the f bomb.  They know this is inevitable, it is up to you to take it into your hands to make a difference and put a stop to this nonsense.  Power to the People.
